Carolyn Wood Graduates from the Laborer’s Supervisory Development Program
Carolyn Wood, a Labor Foreman at Knutson was the first woman to complete The Laborer’s Supervisory Development Program, doing so in record time.
The Laborer’s Supervisory Development Program (LSDP) is designed to give aspiring leaders the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in supervisory roles. This program combines classroom learning, mentorship, and practical on-the-job training, creating a holistic approach to professional development.
The LSDP goes beyond basic training; it emphasizes personal and professional growth. With encouragement from her Trade Superintendent, she pursued the LSDP, which led to valuable mentorship from Tim Jacobson, a Superintendent at Knutson.
“You not only receive support and resources for your current and future career but you also have one-on-one meetings with key players within your organization that help build and gain valuable relationships and information. While also receiving valuable insight to the whole construction process from beginning to end. This really empowers you to do more, be more efficient, and be a bigger asset to your employer” said Wood.
The program also plays a crucial role in promoting diversity within the construction industry. With women making up less than 3% of the field, initiatives like the LSDP help pave the way for future generations.
Wood hopes others will take advantage of this program to break industry barriers and encourage more women to pursue these paths. “Personal and professional growth and development should be a goal for everyone so we can all rise up together.”
