Favorite summer activity? Going up north to my family’s cabin.

What is the most interesting class you have taken in school? construction graphics.

Best thing about your internship so far? I have really enjoyed being a part of team blue, learning along the way and troubleshooting through potential issues ahead of time. Each day has been something new to work through and we are continually planning for the next phase of construction with all trade partners. Specifically, I am helping out at a hospital this summer, and one interesting thing that I have learned about is Hospital infection control procedures, ICRA, and what a STARC wall system is and how it is used in hospital construction.

Best thing about the industry?  The fact that you can be involved with building the future and being a part of many projects throughout a career, and the ability to see things that most people don’t think about, what makes a building possible

Favorite professional sports team? Green Bay Packers – Go Pack Go!

Favorite summer activity? Getting outside and camping, and playing basketball or football

What is the most interesting class you have taken in school? Construction Spec and Tech or Construction Planning & Scheduling

Best thing about your internship so far? My project team has been the best thing so far. The Knutson Experience was present when I met them, and it still is to this day. Being able to work with a great group of people is more than I could’ve asked for.

Best thing about the industry? Constructing real world progress and relationships with those involved that will last longer than a scheduled timeline.

Best concert you’ve been to? Trampled by Turtles with Houndmouth at Bayfront Festival Park in Duluth.

Go to karaoke song? Rooster by Alice in Chains.

Favorite summer activity? Anything outdoors, such as camping, canoeing, hiking, and fishing.

What is the most interesting class you have taken in school? Management Information Systems, we learned about current tech trends in our world. Artificial intelligence, being at the top of the list each week kept us on our toes. Having this class in a semester filled with construction classes was refreshing.

Best thing about your internship so far? All the relationships that are being built. All the subcontractors, owner reps, foremen, project teams, interns, and other departments have been awesome people to work with. I believe each of them have sharpened my understanding of the field overall.

Best thing about the industry? The incredible systems that keep everyone in the loop during the project. Communication is highly prioritized and there are great technologies (such as Procore and Matterport) that make things easy to convey, regardless of technical skill level.

Favorite professional sports team? Arsenal ⚽️

What is the most interesting class you have taken in school? Although it’s not directly related to construction management, my Speech Communications class taught me lots of interesting things about communication, along with exercises to improve in that area. I believe this to be one of the most important soft skills in this industry.

Best thing about your internship so far? Working with my team onsite. Everyone is friendly and approachable. They are always willing to answer my questions or take a moment to show me what they’re working on. The supportive environment makes it easy to feel comfortable, ask for help, and learn.

Best thing about the industry? The people are the best part about the industry, especially here at Knutson.

Favorite summer activity? I enjoy spending time outdoors, often fishing, biking, and sitting around a bonfire with friends and family.

What is the most interesting class you have taken in school? CMG 4800 – Sustainable Construction. We spent a lot of time looking into different groups like Green Globes and LEED and how they are working to create a more sustainable construction industry. Additionally, we investigated different types of sustainable building materials, such as mass timber.

Best thing about your internship so far? Getting to be in the trailer and learn from everyone in the field every day.

Best thing about the industry? We get to be a part of the behind-the-scenes and see how things are being built.

Favorite professional sports team? Minnesota Vikings.

Favorite summer activity? Getting out in the boat and fishing with my family and friends.

What is the most interesting class you have taken in school? Sleep and Relaxation Techniques: We met twice a week and napped for an hour!

Best thing about your internship so far? There was a plan in place for my new role, and my project team has made sure that there is enough difference between the project engineering role and the field side. I have gotten more experience with the schedule and meetings with the foreman and inspectors on site.

 Best thing about the industry? I enjoy seeing the progress and having a clear plan for a building project. Coming from a carpentry background, I’ve seen how commercial construction compares to residential—it’s essentially the same principles, just on a larger scale. I’ve also really appreciated the team events that have been organized; they’ve added a fun and collaborative element to the experience.
