Knutson Construction Signs The Contractors Commitment
This Earth Day, we’re proud to share a meaningful step forward in how we approach sustainability here at Knutson. We’ve officially signed on to the Contractor’s Commitment to Sustainable Building Practices, an industry-led framework that helps contractors measure, improve, and act across our projects and operations.
Created by contractors for real-world application, this Commitment targets the areas where our impact matters most: healthier jobsites, carbon reduction, waste minimization, water conservation, and responsible material use.
“One of Knutson’s core values is Care with Action — going above and beyond to serve others and support the well-being of every individual. Signing on to the Contractor’s Commitment is that value in practice. It’s our commitment to do more than build great buildings — it’s a pledge to protect the people, communities, and environment around every project we touch.” — John Curry, CEO
By signing on, we’re creating more consistency in how sustainability shows up across our work. That means:
- Taking action on at least 30% of our projects to start
- Tracking progress and continuously improving over time
- Creating safer, healthier jobsites
This effort reflects who we are as Team Blue and where we’re headed. It’s about taking what we already value and putting a clearer structure and accountability behind it.
“At Knutson, we also believe in Leading with Courage — stepping out of our comfort zone to pursue our individual and collective potential. Signing on to the Contractor’s Commitment embodies that. The preconstruction phase is where we have the greatest influence on how a project takes shape, and this framework challenges our teams to hold ourselves to a higher, measurable standard — before the industry requires it of us.” — Micah Vainikka, Corporate Preconstruction Director
