Resting on an 11-acre plot of land edging the North Loop neighborhood west of downtown Minneapolis, the North Loop Garage is the largest of Metro Transit’s five operating bus garages.
The North Loop Garage is tall, well-lit, bright, and airy, seeking to accommodate even the largest buses in Metro Transit’s growing fleet. The MT team focused on making the exterior of the building attractive, knowing its placement at the forefront of the easily recognized cityscape of Minneapolis would reflect well with increased visual appeal for those driving toward the city.
The facility also provides new and comfortable amenities for MT employees, including a lunchroom with an outdoor deck, a fitness room, and lounge area. “From Metro Transit’s perspective, one of the key focus areas [of the project] was employee wellness and happiness,” said Robert Rimstad, lead project manager at Metro Transit.
Knutson partnered with Adolfson & Peterson Construction the North Loop Garage project, which has been recognized as both a MNSHARP site and 2022 Finance & Commerce Top Project.
