Hennepin County Medical Examiner Wins MCA Award of Excellence

Knutson Construction is proud to announce the Hennepin County Medical Examiner project was named Top Project in the Publicly Funded Construction Project category at the 2023 Minnesota Construction Association Awards of Excellence on January 25, 2023.

The project included demolition of four existing on-site structures in Minnetonka to make space for the new facility. With two connected wings for the comprehensive Medical Examiner team, this facility will create an innovative and collaborative area that also serves as a functional professional development and training space. Autopsy bays, body freezers, coolers, office spaces, conference rooms, loading docks, and more make up the finished 64,000 SF space.

Knutson’s project team worked closely with the HCME team and applicable user groups to understand their needs, and was dedicated to creating a space that fully supported the mental, emotional, and social health of all staff and doctors who would be utilizing it upon completion in 2021.

This state-of-the-art facility has truly set the standard for medical examiners across the country, and we are honored to have been involved with such a meaningful build.
